SUPER EAGLES 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP JOURNEY

Unlike south Africa 2010, the Super Eagles have made it a step closer to the Cup this time around in Sao paulo  Brasil 2014 World Cup. the super eagles surprised most of us and emerged 2nd in their group, after playing against Iran, Bosnia and Argentina.

The Super Eagles played a 0-0 against the Iranians,  scored 1-0 against Bosnia and were able to concede 2 goals to 3 against Argentina, landing them a spot in the round of 16. This made most Nigerians proud and excited for the  Eagles.

However, all excitement and joy ended when they couldn't make it to the quarter finals  and lost to the French in the round of 16. This unfortunate incident marked the end of the Super Eagles journey in the Brasil 2014 FIFA World Cup.

It was not  only the end of the journey for the Eagles in the 2014 world Cup but also the end for their captain Joseph Philip Yobo who announced his retirement from international football. The 33 year old became the first Nigerian to play 100 international matches but capped it with an own goal in added time against the french in the round of 16.
"It was a bitter-sweet moment for me but i think it is time to focus on my family" Yobo told reporters.
