4th Henna Ball and Award Night 2016


It was a night of glitz and glamour for the management and staff of  Tozali Magazine when they rolled out the red carpets to celebrate the 4th Tozali Awards and Henna Ball. The city of Abuja went agog as guests trooped in to the International Conference Centre to celebrate the fastest growing brand which has, over the years, created a veritable platform for celebration of notable Nigerians and for promotion of African culture. This years event with the theme "Celebrating Creativity and Philanthropy" was chaired by the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Honorable Yakubu Dogora.  As usual, the ball was well packaged with exhibitions, runway fashion shows, music mode, comedy and awards. The awards segment focused on, and celebrated notable Nigerians who have contributed selflessly and immensely in various fields of human endeavour.  Among the award recipients was Wife of the President, Haj. Aisha Buhari, who received the prestigious Tozali award known as  "The  big heart award"  for her selfless contribution in restoring the meaning of life to the less privileged,  especially the Internally Displaced Persons. Other award recipients were Governor Bindow Jibrilla  of Adamawa State,  who was Awarded "Tozali Governor of the Year for his outstanding  performance in his home state; the Nigerian Military and Civil Defence were also celebrated with an Award of Recognition for their gallant fight against insurgency in the Northeast.  More on the list of Awardees were Haj. Salamatu Almakura (Best Pet Project Award); Sen. Ali Ndume and Hon. Nicholas Mutu (Most Outstanding Legislatures Award);  Hon.Khadija Abba Ibrahim , Hon.Aisha Dukku, Hannatu Musawa and Obiageli Ezekwesili received the Tozali Women of the Year Award.  Other awards that were given during the occasion include Tozali Fashion Icon Award, Young Entrepreneur Award, Kannywood Best Actor and Actress Award and finally Makeup Artist and Photographer of the Year Award.

The event was
 well attended and graced by the Nigeria's high and mighty. The special Guest of Honour was the Wife of the President who was ably represented by the wife of Chief of Army staff, Haj. Ummulkasum Tukur Burtai; while the Chief host was the Chairperson of Governors Wives Forum, Hajiya Asmau Abdulaziz Yari, wife of Zamfara State Governor.  The mother of the day was no other person than the former First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Maryam Sani Abacha. Also in attendance were some special guests among whom were wife of governor of Kaduna State, Haj .Aisha Elrufai; wife of governor of Sokoto State, Mairo Tambuwal; wife of governor of  Kogi State, Haj. Rasheedat Bello; wives of governors of Nasarawa, Kebbie and Zamfara States, who was the chief host of the event stated above. We also had in our midst over 30  Honourable Members  of Representatives; Distinguished  Senators, Ministers, Managing Directors of Parastatals, distinguished personalities, spirited friends and family, members of the press and the general public.

The Editor-in-Chief of Tozali Magazine
 and the initiator of Henna Ball and Award Night, Haj. Maimuna Abubakar, in her vote of thanks, clearly stated that this years edition was designed to promote African culture while drawing attention to the plight of Internally Displaced Persons [IDPs]. As a show of commitment to this noble cause, a large percentage of the proceeds generated from sponsorship of the event will be invested towards supporting IDPs across the nation, through the NGO, Tozali Girl child and Women Foundation.
