NIGERIAN WOMEN SAY NO TO RAPE

Rape has always been with mankind throughout the world. Historically women have always been subjugated and oppressed by men in most cultures in Nigeria, and this situation is due to inequality in gender relation between men and women.

Rape is a very serious sexual assault both under Nigerian law and other jurisdictions. Rape is a non-consensual sexual intercourse when a man has sex with a woman without her consent. Rape is a crime not a punishment so we have to stop blaming victims. If you’ve been raped or sexually assaulted, you should not be in silence.

Rape is a crime in Nigeria, and if you are a victim you should report the matter to ensure that the person is punished, and the person does not get an opportunity to do it to someone else again in the future. Nigerian girls and women have to wake up, know their rights and come together to help themselves, their children and their sisters who are experiencing this abuse.

Victims shouldn’t be shy of coming out to speak up and fight for justice for themselves. Nobody has the right to touch you without your consent.
