Ways to prevent kids from domestic accident

It may surprise you to learn that nearly 45 percent of unintentional injury or deaths of children happen in or around their homes. Even though when you think of injury,  you think  harm that occurs somewhere other than your own home;  It is an ideal thought that our homes should be the safest place for our family, loved ones, and ourselves. The best way to prevent accidents or injuries in the home is to make ensure you take the necessary safety precautions.
Here are some simple fixes you can make in your home to ensure that you do your best to prevent domestic injuries:
Clean up spills immediately: When there is a spill of liquids, grease, or anything else you could slip on, clean it up as soon as possible to avoid falls.
Secure rugs: To prevent rugs from moving around and causing slips, secure them with nonskid pads or preferably purchase rugs with slip-resistant backings. Another alternative is to use double-sided carpet tape to keep the rug in its place.
Beware of where you put hot liquids: If you have young children in the house, always be weary of where you put that cup of hot coffee. Refrain from placing hot liquids on a table that has a runner or table cloth hanging over as the child may pull on the fabric causing the liquid to spill on them. Also do not leave hot liquids in a place where children can reach it.
Install grab bars in the shower: For anyone who is unsteady on their feet such as an elderly family member, a shower can be a very dangerous place. Installing grab bars could help prevent disaster should they slip.
Check your hot water heater: Children and the elderly are more susceptible to burns from hot water. Make sure your hot water in the heater is always at 120 degrees Fahrenheit or lower to best avoid unintentional burns.
Keep electronics away from water: This seems to go without saying yet accidents involving electronics and water still happen every year. Do not keep electronics near water, in a place where they could fall into the water or a child could pull them in.
Check your basement and garage. These areas of the home are often used for storage, with that comes the risk of tripping over things. Check that these areas have a clear path to walk in and make sure boxes are stacked securely so that nothing falls on anyone.
Keep guards on all tools and store out of reach: Power tools come with safety covers for a reason. Be sure to keep all safety covers on the tools. Also, store the tools out of the reach of children or in a locked tool chest.
Stair safety: Stairs can be the cause of accidents for many different reasons. To best avoid falls make sure your handrail runs the full length of the staircase, carpets are secure, and do not put area rugs or mats at the base or top of the stairs. Also if you paint basement stairs it will be beneficial to add some sand to the pain to give the stairs more traction. For outside steps that are not well lit, paint the edges white so they can be seen in the dark.
Keep cleaning products out of reach: All cleaning products should be stored in a place where kids and pets cannot get to them. Put them in a cabinet with child-proof locks or better yet store them in a high cabinet.
Other Preventive measures include;
Never tell children drugs are “sweets” as this may give a wrong idea to children.
Choose toys appropriate to the age of children. Avoid toys with detachable small parts.
Never let children use milk bottle by themselves without adult’s supervision.
Never leave children alone in a bath tub or basin filled with water.
Bucket filled with water must be covered and kept away from children.
Keep floors free of toys and obstructions.
Windows and doors must be locked to avoid misadventure by children.
Avoid placing “step-stones” such as a chair next to a window.
Always store chemicals in their original containers with appropriate labels.
Accident cannot be completely avoided, but its occurrence can be minimized or prevented completely. Therefore, to prevent domestic accidents in children, adults should always pay more attention to home safety. Parents should also clear any hidden “hazards” in the house and teach children about safety. If accidents happen, it is advised to stay calm and call for help immediately.
Remember, taking the proper precautionary measures can help you escape deadly outcomes, and save numerous properties and lives.
Always be on the watch out for domestic accident.

Mourinho plans massive clear-out at Man United, set to spare only 7 players

It is believed that Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, is planning a major clear out at the Red Devils and only seven players are reportedly safe in the clear-out. Mourinho hopes to have a squad that can compete with Pep Guardiola City side for next season Premier League after the Citizens were confirmed winners of this season's League. The Irish Independent report that manager Jose Mourinho has had it with many of United players, and very few are safe in the summer. Mourinho would be willing to consider the sale of pretty much any players except David De Gea, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young and Juan Mata. They are currently the only ones who have his full trust. The Red Devil sources are keen to point out that such swings have been a trend of Mourinho's time so far, and that his moods have been greatly influenced by the most recent big results. That has led to transfer plans drastically changing from month to month - in a way that just would not happen at Manchester City now due to their approach - and it is possible that victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend could cause another reversion.

39-year-old dropout owned a clinic at Mushin, Lagos state

The Lagos state police command has arrested a 39-year-old fake medical practitioner, Abdulrahman Mohammed, for allegedly owning a clinic and practicing medicine for four years without any license. Mohammed, who dropped out of primary school, reportedly has a clinic in Idi-Araba area, Mushin, Lagos state where he administered intravenous injections to patients and prescribe drugs for ailments, The Punch reports. The Lagos state commissioner of police, Edgal Imohimi, while parading the suspect on Monday, said: “On April 14, around 12am, detectives from the Area D Command, Mushin, arrested a native of Ran village, in the Gamboru Ngala local government area of Borno state, for operating as a medical doctor whereas his education stopped at primary school level, even though there is no certificate to authenticate that claim. “Further investigations into the activities of Mohammed, who had been impersonating a medical doctor for the past four years, revealed that he had been administering intravenous injections, conducting medical tests on his patients and taking their urine and blood samples. “The suspect confessed that he bought his drugs from Idumota Market. Exhibits recovered from him include blood pressure monitors – manual and electronic – syringes, drip packs both saline and sugar solutions, among others. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is over.”
Mohammed, however denied practicing medicine and claimed he was only a chemist who prescribed drug for people. He said: “I stopped school after primary six. I started selling drug and injections in 2014, but I don’t give people injections or drips. Some people came to check their blood pressure. If a customer says he has a headache, I can sell Panadol to him. I buy my drugs at Idumota. Nurses come to buy from me.” Admitting that he prescribed the drugs by merely guessing, he also said he couldn't tell the exact number of patients he had catered to, stating that sometimes the drugs worked and other times it may have harmed them. The Imo-state indigene who ran a drugstore at Seriki Aro street, Ikeja, Lagos, confessed after he was arrested, and some of his drugs were picked as exhibits.

Niki Bella announces split with John Cena 3 weeks to their wedding

WWE superstar John Cena has split from his fiancee Nikki Bella less than 20 days before their wedding. In a statement published by Nikki and her twin sister's Twitter account the WWE diva told fans they were separating but Cena is yet to comment on the issue. "After much contemplation and six years of being together, Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple," the statement read. "While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."
Nikki also spoke on her 'intimate' wedding to John Cena: "I'm not a diva wedding planner – Brie is!"
Both WWE superstars were due to get hooked on May, 5, having got officially got engaged in last year's WrestleMania 33. The pair have been dating since 2012 and Cena gave a hint on how his relationship with Nikki has been faring. "Don't ever think that love is easy. Love is beautiful, but we've had to come to the realization after being together for five years that love is not easy. "We work every day on us. We have our problems just like everybody else. Some of our problems are very public, some of them aren't. "But we work every day on us. Anytime I get upset, I always just realize that I can't live without her and I love her and that's why I cave in on a lot of stuff," Cena told Us Weekly.
The 13-time world heavyweight champion revealed their separate work schedules kept them apart for up to a month a times but said they focused on each other when they finally had time together. "I think, for now at least, that is certainly what's making this work," he added. Cena tweeted a few days ago a message that hinted his relationship was facing challenges. "Life is funny sometimes. One minute it's kissing and hugging on you, the next it's kicking ya square in the nugget bag. Moments make the journey and the powerful play goes on," he wrote on April 12. Another tweet from the superstar said something about accountability and forgiveness. "We all have good and bad days. No one is perfect, but if you happen to do something to make someone feel bad, TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY for your actions, APOLOGIZE, and ASK FORGIVENESS," he told his followers.
Details about their split have not been made public yet but as recently as April, 7, Cena was calling Nikki a "keeper" after she tweeted a positive appraisal of his new film Blockers. In Wrestlemania 34, Cena was destroyed by the Undertaker after calling out the dead man in consecutive events of Monday Night RAW preceding the showpiece in New Orleans.
