Northern Governors’ Wives Forum: The War against Drug Abuse Continues

As the NGWF intensifies advocacy against substance abuse, a three-day training event was held in Abuja in May 2017, in partnership with two consultant organizations, namely Reconnect Health Development Initiative (Reconnect HDI) and House of Recovery to help youths who are affected mentally by substance abuse problems.

It is widely reported that there is an increasing number of Nigerians, especially the youths, who are engaging in drug abuse, with Northern Nigerian States having the highest cases of addiction.

With this development, the NGWF has prioritized a comprehensive drug intervention project under the leadership of its grand patron and Wife of the President, Her Excellency, Hajiya Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, to declare war on drug abuse as it is rendering many youths unproductive and dangerous to the society.

Popular Musician, Majek Fashek, who performed during the event told the audience about his experience with drug abuse, thereby urging the youths to stay away from it.
