Hello everyone!
My Name is Hapsy Ibrahim-Mahmud and this little slice into the amazing world of cooking!
I want to thank all our loyal lovely citizens of cookingville for their emails & messages.
Keep them coming! You guys are totally AWESOME!!!!
As always.....I am very excited about this new edition of Tozali's Meals by Me™. So without further ado..

The Picnic Bun!
This recipe I am going to share with you is such a simple and delicious Sandwich that absolutely anyone can do! You can make it as your lunch if you're going to be on the road, or for a Picnic! Remember those Picnics? On a lazy Sunday, this is the perfect answer to boredom. So make an event of it, even if it's in your home car park, Have a Picnic! Hapsy's Orders!

For this recipe, you'll need:
·         One Sourdough Bread ( I used Wheat Bread, but you can use anyone you like)
·         1 packet of Chicken Franks
·         Red peppers sliced diagonally and Spring Onions sliced diagonally
·         A few washed Lettuce leaf and tomatoes for garnish
·         Sriracha Sauce
·         Sandwich cheese (I used Emmental Cheese but you can use Cheddar or Mozzarella Cheese)
·         Butter (Not Margarine, Butter! Makes all the difference)

So the1st thing to do is, cut a cone in your bread! It's important not to jab the bottom or the sides of the bread bun. Don't rush it, steady and easy does it!

Then scoop the insides of the Bread Bun till you get a nice hollow center that can be filled up with all the goodies you want. Slice up your Chicken Franks diagonally and all the veggies listed above! if you want to add more to this list, it's cool! The more colour the better!

Know iT: Chicken Franks also known as Chicken Frankfurters are ‘Hotdog’ or Sausages made from...well Chicken! Sausages are cured meat, brined, seasoned and salted sometimes even smoked! They were typically used by Europeans for sauces, sandwiches & cooking in general but mainly as a way to preserve meat. Brought into America by German immigrants, Chicken Franks were made popular around 1870 by the folks who didn't eat pork in their Hotdogs. These days, loved by all, Frankfurters are also processed using Turkey Meat! Thought you guys should know some Food History!

After that bit, it's time to stir-fry the goodies. Use a non-stick pan. Make sure all your veggies are washed well before slicing.

Pop everything into the pan and start to stir-fry on medium heat! Drizzle in some Sriracha Sauce and stir-fry until well combined. After about 3mins for stir-frying, take off the heat and set the mixture aside. Do not add seasoning cube or salt. The Sausages are already salted and adding anything other than the Sriracha Sauce will just ruin the taste. If you can't get your hands on Sriracha to buy, Awwwww (Sad) you can substitute it with a Thai Chill Sauce.

Sriracha (Pronounced as Siracha) is a spicy sauce made with red chilli, secret spices and garlic, served especially with Vietnamese and Thai food. It can be eaten like that straight out of the bottle or be added to stir-fries, soups and sauces..kinda like the Vietnamese version of Yaji but it's a sauce while Yaji is in powder form. Lol! well yeah! we eat yaji raw or added to food so I think the description is accurate!

Notice I didn't say add oil?! The Sausages will release their own oils and that should be about  enough! You don't want your Bun all greasy and soaking in oil right?! After all, we are going to Butter up this Yummy Pocket including the lid for flavour and for the right amount of fat you need. Want? Lol! All I know is Butter makes everything great! Use It! After Buttering the Bun & Lid, pop in a slice of cheese at the bottom and start to add in the Medemede into the bun.... now we are talking!

Pile on neatly, add little squirts of Sriracha while piling up the yummy filling then add one more cheese slice before popping on a two pieces of whole Lettuce leaves at the very top then place your lid on the bun. Try to place the lid the way you cut it! The bread cone you cut off from the lid and the inside of the bun can be reused as bread crumbs after toasting! So nothing is wasted!
You can add some freshly chopped herbs like parsley if you want, instead of the lettuce or you can even add slices of cabbage! If you want!

Walla! There you have it!

A Beautiful Picnic Bun! The Ultimate Convenient Sandwich! The butter acts like a glue to stick the fillings in place, and when you cut this mouth moist maker up...hmmm! check out the inside! ehn now! in place!!!

I hope you guys try out this recipe! Easy right? Don't forget to garnish your bun!
