HIJAB MY BEAUTIFUL COVER, MY INSTRUMENT FOR BEAUTIFUL CONDUCT.

 An NGO, the Coalition of Nigeria Muslim Women Organisations, held this year’s Hijab Day at the National Mosque in Abuja on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

It is a convergence of several Muslim women groups in Abuja who came to collaborate and strategise in a bid to promote and propagate issues of concern that affect the private and public life of Muslim women. The Coalition aims to drive the ongoing dialogue on Hijab not by being on the defensive but by creating fresh perspectives continuously and conscientiously.

The event, which was the culmination of a week of activities celebrating the 2016 World Hijab Day, was attended by over 600 women, men and children. This year, the theme of the event, which was the third edition hosted by the coalition, was “Hijab - My Beautiful Cover;  My Instrument for Beautiful Conduct.”

World Hijab Day takes place on February 1 every year. It is a special day set aside to increase awareness of the Muslim woman’s dressing through a number of public awareness activities that include inviting non- Muslim women to wear the Hijab for a day and encourage the Muslim women to obey the command of the Creator.
