Handbags: A Girl’s Best Friend
Handbags
are usually used by the female folks and are made from different materials,
ranging from animal skin, leather and cotton to other fabrics. Handbags come in
different shapes, sizes, texture and colours, and this makes them even more
desirable and beautiful. Handbags usually come with straps so that they can be
hung on the shoulders; it could be the right or left shoulder and sometimes it
could be clutched on the wrist depending on how one feels comfortable with it.
It is like a friend that goes everywhere and most women (if not all) feel
incomplete without their handbags.
This
adorable piece of accessory carries sentimental value for women, and women
spend hours and some hundreds of naira to get the ideal bag. Handbags are
symbols of a woman’s taste first, before they are considered to be accessories
meant to complement and match an outfit. When you look around, you hardly find
a woman without a handbag, and in every occasion, handbags seem to be the
company a woman carries along. In most ceremonies in our society today, women
carry different colours and types of handbags to match with what they wear.
They
are beautiful and practical accessories that are highly desired. Women can
carry a lot of items in them; from mobile phones, to change of clothes, sun
glasses, notebooks, diary, snacks, umbrella and practically anything that can
fit into them. For married women with kids, a handbag can be used to store
diapers or even milk bottles. This makes carrying handbag highly important for
a woman.
Nowadays,
ladies use big handbags popularly known as “I may spend the night” or “I fit no
come back”. The handbag serves different purposes as some ladies put their
daily wears inside the bag for emergency reasons which may warrant them to
change their clothes. As for female students, they use the bag as a place for
keeping their lecture notes and most times the cosmetics are contained in the
handbag which they use to retouch their make-ups.
As
the world is changing fashion is also changing, the female folks now use a bag
called the “Clutch bag”. The bag comes in different colours, shapes and texture;
it is normally small or medium in size. The handle is made of chain which makes
it different from the other normal handbags that come with leather straps.
The
bag is used for occasions such as night outings, dinner parties and weddings.
But some ladies prefer to use the bag for lecture and other activities. The
clutch handbag doesn’t contain as much items as the “I may spend the night
handbag” (big bags). The clutch handbag does contain things like small exercise
books for students, cosmetics such as small size powder boxes, lip gloss, etc.
However, clothes which are meant for other activities cannot be carried in the clutch
bag because of its small size.
The
female folks are so attached to their bags that when the bag is taken away from
them, they feel incomplete. Some feel rather unfashionable without holding a
bag on their shoulders, and they feel as if something has been removed from their
body. This is why ladies quickly react when a bag is snatched away from them.
As part of a woman’s fashion accessories, and as the fashion trend is going wild,
our bags are meant to help us (women) put our things in order; to help us look
more elegant and classy in the fashion world.
