GET THAT CUFF LINK THAT SAYS IT ALL

A cuff link is a decorated button that is worn by men and women to close the two sides of the cuff on a shirt or blouse. Women wear cuff link as well as men. It was during the reign of Louis xiv that shirt sleeves started to be fastened with sleeve buttons. As small as they are they can sometimes or most times make the biggest impact that will allow you to make the right statement to set off your outfit. Cuff links are designed only for use with shirts which have buttonholes on both sides, but no buttons. These may be single or double- length cuff, and may be worn either with ends pinched together, or with ends overlapping the other.  Designs of cuff links vary. There is a double cuff link which consists of a short post connecting two shaped parts, both decorated. Some other types have a flat decorated face for one side, while the other side shows only the swivel bar and its post. The swivel bar is placed vertically to put the links on and off, then horizontally to hold them firm in place when worn. It may be small enough to fit through the button hole like a button would; it may be separated and attached from the other side, or it may have a portion that swivels on the central post, aligning with the post while the link is treated through the button hole. The visible part of a cuff link is often designed in ways to reflect association. There are different styles and these includes traditional and contemporary. Cuff links can be worn with casual wears, office shirts or informal attire. Originally, it was considered important to coordinate the metal of one’s cuff links with other jewellery such as tie- bar or rings, belt buckle etc. Experts have prescribed gold to be worn during the day time and silver for evening wear, basically because of the reflections, but neither exception is considered as critical as it once was.

Another type of cuff link is the silk knot which usually is conjoined. They are often not from silk, and consist of a material/ fabric over an elasticated core. There are different types of cuff links such as the customized, unique cuff links which come in different makes. For example, you have the Gold and silver, and also the fabric make of cuff links. The customized cuff links are usually based on special order meant for special occasion. In all these, it is important to trace back how the idea of cuff links came to be. Cuff links as an accessory has drastically grown into a popular fashion key for men and women. It can be found in different shapes, sizes and styles for all types of shirts or dress. Over the years, cuff links came into light when men thought of a fashionable way of something trendier for their outfit rather than ribbon to hold their cuffs. The idea came and they began to use  small chains that were joined to the end of a button and fed through the holes of the cuff to hold them together. Hence, that was when the idea of cuff links came to be. The customized cuff links are perfectly made for personal or corporate needs. For example, you could have your image or logo placed. This also is great brand recognition.

Because the glint of the cuff links against the shirt- sleeve cuff is visible to everybody, reveal your own personal style in many moods through a wide variety of the mentioned designs.
