Manchester United fell to defeat against Man City on a pivotal night in the Premier League as the visitors returned to the top of the division with a 2-0 win.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side started the game well at Old Trafford but were unable to find a way through against Pep Guardiola's team.
City took the lead early in the second-half after a brilliant move down the right hand side which saw Bernardo Silva cut inside and fire past David de Gea at the near post. Jesse Lingard almost equalized immediately but failed to connect with a cross at the back post.
United were made to pay for their complacency and went two goals behind when Leroy Sane smashed a brilliant effort in at the near-post but De Gea should have done better again.
