Aliko Dangote has kept his promise of $50,000 for each goal Nigeria score against Algeria in the semifinal of AFCON 2019 .
Nigeria suffered a 1-2 defeat to Algeria in the clash, but claimed the bronze medal of AFCON 2019 after beating Tunisia in losers' final .
The business tycoon handed the cash reward to Super Eagles representatives on Wednesday, July 31 Nigerian billionaire and business tycoon Aliko Dangote has fulfiled his promise to splash out $50,000 for Super Eagles only goal in their semi-final clash against Algeria’s at the just-concluded AFCON 2019.
The encounter at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, July 14, saw Nigeria net once from the spot as Algeria claimed a 2-1 at the death to reach AFCON 2019 final.
However, in an Instagram post on Thursday, August 1, the Nigeria Football Federation uploaded an image of the trio of Super Eagles representatives - Chidi Ngoka (Equipment Manager), Enebi Achor (Team Manager) and midfielder John Ogu along with a message that read: “Business tycoon Aliko Dangote today in Lagos redeemed his pledge of $50,000 to the @NGSuperEagles for their one against Algeria in AFCON 2019 semifinal. “Money was presented by Olakunle Alake, GMD of Dangote Group accompanied by Anthony Chiejina, Chief Corp. Comm. Officer.” Interestingly, despite the setback for not reaching AFCON 2019 final, Nigeria defeated Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles 1-0 to claim the bronze medal in the third place match.
