No
doubt, the best eyebrow shape for you is the one that makes you feel most
confident and beautiful. But, if you’re looking to change your look a bit, and
are wondering what that one thing is that can make you look instantly
glamorous, you might want to start by finding the right brow for your specific
face shape. As all hairstyles do not suit all face shape, the same goes for
eyebrows. Thankfully, Kelley baker, eyebrow expert has generously shared some
advice on finding the eyebrows that will complement the shape of your face.
Heart-Shaped
Faces
A
heart-shaped face is characterised by cheeks that are wider than the hairline, and
a narrow/pointed chin. For those with heart-shaped faces, a round brow shape
will suit you quite nicely. Baker says, “A rounded or low-arched brow pairs
perfectly. The curve of the brow creates a heart look, which flows with the
face”
Square
Shaped Faces
With
a square-shaped face, you have a square jaw, the width of your hairline and
jawline are even, and your face is equally long and wide. If your face has
sharp, defined angles like that of a square, Baker suggests softer brows. “For a
square-shaped face, it’s good to soften the brows by making them appear more
rounded,” she says. You need brows that
will soften your very strong looking features. Try a rounder shape or a low
soft arch with medium thickness. You do not want to go too thin or too thick
with this shape of face.
Rectangular
Faces
People
with a rectangular-shaped face have similar hairline and jawline width, but the
face is longer than it is wide. With this shape of face, Baker says, “If you do
not want to highlight your face’s long lines, a flat eyebrow shape will create
the illusion of a shorter face. Adding a slight curve can even give your face
some roundness”. Well, thanks Ms Baker,
duly noted.
Round
Faces
Your
face is round-shaped when it is equally long and wide, and there are no major
points or angles; you have a rounded jaw and chin. With this face shape, you
need sharp brows for contrast. Create high arched eyebrows. If you do not like
sharp arches, then opt for a soft arch. But avoid round eyebrow shapes or you end
up making your face look even rounder. “I like to try to give someone with a
round shaped face an arch in their brow so that it gives the brow a lift, which
adds more definition to their face”, says Baker.
Oval-Shaped
Faces
Imagine
an egg placed upside-down. That is what an oval shaped face looks like; the
length of the face is 1.5 times longer than the width. If your face is more oval-shaped, try an
angled brow that’s a little softer than one for a rounded face. You can pick a
slight arch to add more dimension to your face. “A soft, angled brow pairs
nicely with an oval-shaped face”, Baker says.
Long
Faces
You
know your face is long when its length is about two times more than its width; with
this shape of face, aim to make it look a bit rounder. Avoid the arch eyebrows
as it will only make your face look longer. Keep your eyebrow shapes flat.
According to Baker, “A straight brow would go great because it makes the face
appear shorter. It’s all about the illusion, and its horizontal shape accomplishes
this”. She also says, “A brow with an elongated tail helps balance out the
features of a long-shaped face”.
Diamond-Shaped
Faces
A
diamond-shaped face has a hairline that is narrower than the cheeks, and a
slightly pointed chin. With a diamond-shaped face, you get stronger and wider
cheekbones, so you need to soften down the strong features with a curved
eyebrow. Baker says that a curved or rounded brow shape will help make the
widest part of the face look less wide, which balances out all the facial features.
